Marshall keynotes Tenth District Convention in Shelby

SHELBY, N.C. (May 18, 2014) North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall rallied area Democrats May 17 to firm for their causes and candidates as campaigning gets underway in earnest for the November general election. She was keynote speaker at the annual convention of Tenth Congressional District Democrats, attended by county party delegations from Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln, Rtherford, Polk, Catawba, and Buncombe counties. 

Held at the County Office Building auditorium in Shelby with about 125 taking part, the gathering was one of many such district Democratic conventions taking place across the state Saturday in advance of the party’s state convention June 7 in Raleigh.

Tenth District Democratic Chair Betsy Wells of Grover,  led local convention activities. The afternoon business session was preceded by morning meetings of affiliated groups and educational activities. Elected officials and candidates from across the district were saluted.
