Mark calendar: key party events underway this spring

Turning from the November 2012 general election and celebration of President Obama's inauguration for a second term, North Carolina and Cleveland County Democrats are gearing for the next two-year election cycle getting underway. These events are coming up: Annual county Democratic precinct meetings were regularly set for the evening of Tuesday, March 5, unless  another day was announced for specific precincts. Leading meeting agendas was the election of precinct officers and county convention delegates.  CCDP's annual county convention will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, at the Cleveland County Office Building auditorium at 130 S. Post Rd. in Shelby. Watch for announcements of the program and a fundraising breakfast to be beforehand beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Tenth Congressional District Democratic convention, set for Saturday, May 18, also at the County Office Building auditorium. The convention will begin at 12:00 noon. Food will be available during registration beginning at 11:00 a.m. Details on the conventions are to come. All interested registered Dems in the county will be welcome at these events. Those attending precinct meetings elect precinct officers and delegates to the county convention, at which county officers and district convention delegates are named.
