At the grassroots: 2012 Cleveland County Democratic precinct meetings

Across our county, Democrats will gather in their precincts for the annual meetings that are the foundation of our party and begin the process that in 2012 will result in the nomination of Barack Obama to be our presidential nominee.

Local precinct chairs are in the process of scheduling the location and times for these meetings, being held across the state on Tuesday, March 6.

'Regulars' and party newcomers all will be welcome at the events. open to all registered Democrats in the precinct.

A key agenda item at the meetings will be the election of precinct delegates to the Cleveland County Democratic Party's annual convention slated for 10 a. m., Saturday, April 14, at the Cleveland County Office Building at 130 S. Post Rd. in Shelby.

At that county convention, delegates will then be elected to the Tenth Congressional District Democratic Convention to be held Saturday, May 19.  And that's where some delegates will be elected to the National Democratic Convention in Charlotte in September.

The precinct meetings will also feature information about state and county party plans for this election year.
